Bill Harvey Memorial Trophy Race

Sunday 17th May was the date of the Bill Harvey Memorial Trophy Race, set out around Hand Deeps buoy and back. Conditions were verging on "testing" with a stiff SW breeze bringing some gusts which were touching force 5. 8 boats started but Martin in D'Accord decided it was a bit lively and retired shortly after passing Rame Head. Gary in Strawbuckie Too, on his first race this season, soon disappeared from site and finishing almost half an hour before anyone else, achieved second place on handicap. Mariposa, with myself, Levy and Tina on board ploughed on and managed to take first place!! Andy and Will Mawe, sailing Moontan came home third with Pete Jenkins' Sally Anne in fourth. Nice to see Sheba on the water again with Sara, Mark and Ben taking fifth place. Two visitors from CCC joined us and Kevin Whitmill's Saraband finished sixth with Chris Reilly in Sound Venture in seventh place. I think everyone was glad to get ashore as the conditions were quite rough outside and I, for one, certainly slept well that night!!
